I have to say,
I've coveted Dyson's "fans" since they came out, but never expected to own one. Now I do, I can say it is just as beautiful and magical as I imagined - it is by far the most attractive fan heater I've ever seen.
The remote control is useful, as the main controls are at the base of the unit, so it saves you bending down, and it is magnetic, so you can perch it on the top of the heater when you don't need it.
The tilt option is a nice touch - I had to stand my old fan heater on furniture to aim it at, say, drying laundry.
The temperature and power controls are great - nice to have more than a couple of settings; this goes from 1-37°C in one degree increments, and has ten strength levelsand helps to ease my Cold Symptoms
The thermostat is also a nice feature, meaning it won't be on all the time if not required (saving electricity I assume).
A bit like a hairdryer, say - even on the lowest power setting, it is noticeable, and might disturb light sleepers. I suppose a silent fan heater is a difficult proposition. Still, if you have the money, I'd recommend it - this is a classy device.

Having read the mixed reviews,
I just want to add that we are using the Dyson heater in a modern five bedroomed detached house - with opening to conservatory - and the main room gets a little chilly in the freezing weather.
To complement the central heating and to take the chill off the air in a 7 x 5m room adjoining the kitchen and hallway the Dyson is superb on 37 even at the lower fan settings.
The noise is perfectly acceptable in my view, it is better for a heater to be effective rather than a silent non-effective heater.
Yes it is expensive but what isn't? - fantastic little heater which we are using increasingly. Well designed, functional and effective.
For any doubters out there we are thinking of buying another, jury seems to be split on whether it is ace or hopeless!
Air Multiplier™ technology
Air is accelerated through with my Cold Symptoms a narrow aperture around the fan loop. This creates a jet of hot air that passes over an airfoil-shaped ramp, which channels its direction. Surrounding cool air is drawn into the airflow, amplifying it 6 times through processes known as inducement and entrainment.
- a blocked nose (nasal congestion)
- nasal pain and irritation
- sneezing
- a runny nose (nasal discharge) – the discharge is usually clear and runny at first before becoming thicker and darker over the course of the infection
- coughing – this symptom occurs in one out of every three cases
- a hoarse voice
- a general sense of feeling unwell
- a usually mild temperature (fever) of around 38–39°C (100.4–102.2°F)
- headache
- muscle pain
- loss of taste and smell
- mild irritation of your eyes
- a feeling of pressure in your ears and face
